On March 20th 2025, over 100 construction leaders from around Australia stepped onto a super yacht in Sydney Harbour, not just for the views, but to talk about the future of procurement.

The inaugural Sydney Top Out event, hosted by ProcurePro, brought together senior professionals from leading main contractors like Richard Crookes Construction, Hansen Yuncken, Kane Construction, and McNab.

This wasn’t just another industry mixer. It was an exclusive, invite-only evening of high-value conversations, new connections, and a clear signal that construction’s digital transformation is well underway.

The setting was unbeatable. The sun turned it on, the drinks were flowing, and the energy was electric. But it wasn’t just the glittering Harbour views that made the night memorable, it was the conversations happening on deck.

As the yacht cut through the water, so too did the industry’s chatter about leaving behind ‘The Old Way’ of procurement. Manual processes, spreadsheets, and back-and-forth emails?

That ship has sailed. Instead, the room was buzzing about how digital procurement has already lifted efficiency, visibility, and control — and how A.I. is the next frontier.

As Alastair Blenkin, CEO of ProcurePro, put it:

“It’s amazing to bring together a community of leading Aussie builders who have supported ProcurePro and been partners on our journey to change the industry for the better. With ~40% of the market now procuring digitally and forecast 60% by the end of 2025, next year’s event will be even bigger & better!”

The mindset shift is happening, and the community is leading it

Digital procurement is no longer ‘coming soon’. It’s here.

Major commercial contractors in Australia, and an ever-growing number in UK and Ireland, are digitising procurement.

If one thing was clear on deck, it was this: the success of technology in construction doesn’t sit with the tech itself, but with the people who use it.

Builders, project managers, CAs, and QSs (the people on the tools and in the spreadsheets) are the ones shaping what digital procurement looks like tomorrow.

That’s why nights like this matter.

The construction industry thrives on community and connection. Bringing together the decision-makers who build our cities and shape our industry is the only way we move forward, together.

“I’m really looking forward to how the platform continues to grow, all the advancements that [ProcurePro] has made. In particular, what happens with A.I. We're all in the same business, and it's good to be able to just get on the same level and see what issues others are experiencing in the way they're getting around it.”

“It was great hearing about the exciting developments coming up from ProcurePro. They will no doubt improve an already impressive platform and continue to help us streamline our procurement process."

Scott Richardson, State Manager | CIP Constructions

At ProcurePro, we’re proud to be at the centre of that network, helping lead the charge into a future where procurement is simpler, faster, and (soon) powered by A.I.
